100 days of Kazakhstan’s presidency in the OSCE

Kazakhstan managed to give a new impetus to the OSCE work and coordinate actions of member-states in solution of vital problems. This is the assessment of 100 days of Kazakhstan’s presidency in the OSCE by national experts.

Bulat Sultanov, director of Kazakhstani Institute for Strategic Researches under the President of RK:
- One of the main tasks of Kazakhstan at the post of chairman of OSCE which we realize successfully is drawing of attention of the world community to the processes of Central Asia. As soon as events occurred in Kyrgyzstan, we immediately sent there the personal representative of OSCE, deputy chairman of Majilis of Parliament of RK. As for the second basket – economic and ecological, here just Kazakhstan’s presidency in the OSCE helped to draw attention of the world community to the problems of the Aral Sea. Due to the authority of Kazakhstan, UN Secretary General visited disaster zone in the Aral area. And I believe we will manage to accumulate not only moral support but also finances to solve the problem of Aral.

Mugulsum Amirova, vice president of “Center of researches and consulting” public fund:
- Kazakhstan’s presidency defined three concrete directions on human measuring – issues of tolerance and discrimination, secondly, further improving of gender policy not only in Kazakhstan but also on the OSCE territory. And thirdly, fighting against people and children’s trafficking. I think that the first 100 days of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE, if to assess from the viewpoint of non-governmental sector, it is the promotion of these issues, raising and settling of these issues is in a very constructive manner and in full understanding with the civilian sector.
