During an online conference, the Ministry of Oil and Gas announced that in the near future, Kazakhstan will not witness an increase in prices for petrol. The vice minister of oil and gas, Aset Magauov said that after modernization, Kazakhstan’s plants will be able to process 15 million tonnes of oil per year. The modernization will happen at the Atyrau, Pavlodar and Shymkent refineries as part of the development of refineries until 2015, which was approved by the government. The main aim of this programme is to satisfy the needs of the country for petrol, diesel and jet fuel.
Aset Magauov, deputy Kazakhstani minister of oil and gas:
- We used to have to import high octane petrol and jet fuel. We expect that after the modernization of oil refineries, we will not witness a deficit.
Aset Magauov said that if the country witnesses a growth in prices, it will not be intermittent like last year. They are undertaking corresponding measures to prevent this.
Aset Magauov, deputy Kazakhstani minister of oil and gas:
- Today, 93 octane petrol costs about 86 tenge per litre, 80 octane costs 68 tenge and diesel fuel about 69 tenge per litre. We expect that prices will be maintained in the next two months.
Answering a question from Bnews internet users about the process of purchasing shares in the Karachaganak Petroleum Operation of Kazakhstan, Aset Magauov said that negotiations are in process and that is why it is too early to talk about prices and the amount of the package of shares.
