The win of the ATP tournament in Hamburg has significantly changed Andrei Golubev’s life as he has moved from 82nd place in the ATP ranking to 37th. In the final, he snatched a 6-3, 7-5 two-set win over third seed Austrian Jurgen Melzer. While at the tournament, Kazakhstan’s tennis player didn’t lose a single set.

- I was happy to win his first career ATP title. It had been a wonderful week for me which had finished with me standing there and holding the cup. These were unforgettable emotions. I passed on thanks to everyone.
Andrei Golubev, who turned 23 years old last Thursday, claimed his first career ATP title. His previous highest achievement was the final of a tennis tournament in Saint Petersburg.
A regular multi-day cycling race called Pri-irtyshye-2010 has taken place in the city of Pavlodar. The event involved around 70 riders. The first day of the race saw an 8-kilometre prologue. It was Danil Fominykh from the Almaty region who came first. It was Vadim Shalamov from Pavlodar who came first in Stage 1. The competition is due to finish on August the 3rd.
The Astana Arlands boxing team is made up of former amateur boxers. They are Olympic Champion Bakhyt Sarsekbayev, world and asian medalists and Olympic games participants Kanat Abutalipov, Merei Akshalov, Yerzhan Musafirov, Dauren Yeleusinov and others. Kazakhstan’s national professional boxing team has already held their first training session. In two weeks time, they are set to begin some recovery exercises. In autumn, the team trained by first Kazakh professional boxer Beibut Yeszhanov and world champion Marat Mazimbayev will start their preparatory sessions in the Alatau Mountains. Apart from Kazakhstan’s boxers, the team also includes four foreign athletes which is a compulsory requirement. The World Series of Boxing is the only professional league where boxers retain the right to participate in the Olympic Games.

- Boxing is a special kind of sport and it is not a well-paid one. The AIBA has granted us opportunities allowing our amateur boxers earn money and take part in the Olympic Games. It is a unique opportunity and I think it is wonderful.
The Asian boxing confederation is represented by such cities as Astana, Beijing, Baku and Delhi. At the same time, fights will also be held in the European boxing confederation. Top boxers will meet in the play-off to compete for a qualification to the final. Astana Arlands will hold its home matches in the cities of Almaty and Astana. The team’s first fixture will take place away on the 19th of November in Delhi, India.

- We will take part in 12 matches. Six will be held in Kazakhstan and the remaining six will be conducted away. The winner of every match will get 5 thousand US dollars while the defeated side will get one thousand US dollars. However, all the prize money is subject to income tax. We are law abiding citizens of our country and we will pay our taxes.
