FC Lokomotiv from Astana and FC Ordabasy from Shymkent are now struggling to advance to the top 6 clubs which will be competing for medals in the Kazakhstan Football Championship. The home side was obviously dominant during the first half of the match at the Astana Arena. Lokomotiv converted their advantage into a goal in the 40th minute. Valeri Andronik took a corner and Igor Bugayev tried a header but the shot was weak. The defender tried to clear the ball away but sent it to Marat Shakhmetov. The Lokomotiv midfielder opened the score with a spectacular shot. After the break, the Shymkent side leveled the score. Daurenbek Tazhimbetov failed to equalize the score as he wasted a nice opportunity by sending the ball over the bar. As a result, Lokomotiv took a narrow 1-0 win and moved up to 5th place in the table of Kazakhstan’s football premiership.
