ISIAMED presents research on Kazakhstan

The Italian Institute for Asia and the Mediterranean, ISIAMED, has presented a publication of its research on Kazakhstan. The publication entitled “Astana’s momentum: Challenges and opportunities for Kazakhstan twenty years after Independence” is a profound analysis of the country’s internal development and the role Kazakhstan plays in the modern world.

Gian Guido Folloni, the ISIAMED President:
- Kazakhstan is not just a strategic partner for bilateral relations with Italy but also a very strong key participant in the Central Asian region as well as a link between West and East and therefore an important figure in the new international community.

Warm relations with foreign states both near and far was noted to be a major accomplishment of Kazakhstan leadership’s policy.

Dario Rivolta, the President of the Council for Cooperation between Italy and Kazakhstan:
- The results of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the OSCE will be summed up at the end of the year, but the prerequisites for success are already obvious. International organizations are complicated structures and if president Nazarbayev shows the same wisdom and deliberation on an international scale as he has in his domestic policy, it will be a guaranteed success.

The profound analysis about Kazakhstan, a remote and rather unfamiliar country for the ordinary Italian person, was published in Italy for the first time. And the “ISIAMED” promised to continue working in this direction.
